Darts
Darts is an exciting social sport, the history of which can be traced back to the times of the longbow in medieval Britain. The long-lasting acclaim of the game can be credited to its being a game that mixes ability, talent and a little bit of luck. The higher classes of the times shortly put their own stamp on the game. Henry VIII was renowned for his enormous love of the game, and was presented with a beautifully flamboyant set by Anne Boleyn.
The game started as an element of coaching in the martial art of archery.
Historians infer, as it isn’t renowned for certain, that teachers of archery shortened some arrows and asked their scholars to throw them at the base of an empty wine barrel. The proven fact that the base of an empty wine barrel was employed is a clue to the way in which the game developed into a hobby.
It is believed the infantrymen took their shortened arrows on their trip to the local drinking conglomerate to exhibit their ability, while having a great time there.
Steadily, some inventive dart thrower introduced a cross section of a moderate-sized tree. The “board” had rings, and on drying, further splitting was supplied by the cracks. Therefore, from the cracked and dried cross section of a tree developed the modern day dart board. The history of darts in the US can be traced to the Travellers. These hard colonizers are assumed to have played the game on board the Mayflower as it made its sea crossing.
Later on the game was played fervently in the US as a favorite hobby. It was around 1900 the rules for darts became what they are today.
The scale of the board, distance for throwing, and even the scale of the darts was standardized. Today, round the world, arranged groups play for prizes and pro leagues. The outstanding associations worldwide for dart games are World Darts Federation (WDF), UK Darts Organization and Darts Federation of Australia. A group of 18-gram brass darts costs roughly $10, while a group of tungsten darts is $140. Costs change depending on the material the dart is made from, as well as any extras like moveable points or special painting. Costs differ from catalogue to catalogue also.
